Admissions Policy

Caring for Children Aged Birth to 5 Years

At Precious Gems, we provide care for children between the ages of birth to 5 years. Our admission process considers legal space requirements, staff-child ratios, and nursery facilities in compliance with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).

Admission Criteria

  • Looked after children
  • Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) best served at our nursery
  • Vulnerable children with Child Protection, Child in Need Plans, or local authority support
  • Children with siblings already enrolled
  • Children whose parents reside within the area

Preference may be given to full-time placements based on work commitments, occupancy, and room availability. We maintain a waiting list, and places are offered based on availability.

Inclusion and Equality

We operate an Inclusion and Equality policy, ensuring that all children have access to our nursery places and services regardless of gender, race, disability, religion or belief, or sexual orientation of parents.

Registration and Personal Information

Prior to a child attending nursery, parents must complete and sign a contract and registration form. These forms collect personal details related to the child, such as name, date of birth, address, emergency contact details, parental responsibilities, dietary requirements, collection arrangements, fees and sessions, contact details for parents, doctor’s contact details, health visitor contact details, allergies, parental consent, and vaccinations, etc.

Government Funded Places

All settings registered to accept government funding must offer funded places for two to five-year-olds for early learning sessions specified by the local authority. At Precious Gems, we currently provide government-funded places subject to availability. Allocation is on a first-come, first-served basis and can be booked a term in advance. Please note that admissions for government-funded nursery education places follow a termly intake beginning the term following your child's second birthday.

Funded sessions align with flexible arrangements specified by the Government. When registering your child for a funded place, we will discuss your needs and accommodate them as far as possible, considering availability and staffing arrangements. We reserve the right to limit and/or have specific funded sessions based on our business requirements.
